Once again, like with the artwork for The Mailman, this page will demonstrate the life of a movie poster. Unlike major motion pictures where the studios keep very tight control, Independent movies will see their posters, DVD covers and one sheet designs go through many changes as the film is distributed territory by territory. Here is the DVD cover for the United States DVD release. The distributor obviously decided to simplify the artwork we had submitted to them. Note that even though there are differences in artwork, the initial original idea and design held up through most of the versions.
This is the DVD cove used in the Great Britain release. The buyer for this territory decided to rename the movie murder dot com. Even though the layout of the design was changed drastically, as you can see they took the artwork we supplied and went from there.
Here is the Thailand cover. Again, they used our artwork and redesigned it for their needs. To me this is the most confusing DVD cover. Is Tina underwater? Is Robert afraid to swim?
This is the official poster and artwork design that we commissioned. This was done by Eddie Passarelli, who has done the poster designs for most of my movies.
Here you will find our first pass at a poster design. I believe this was commissioned by our distributor, IFM Worldwide. It was either taken from a production photo or possibly even from the video footage. Obviously not very appealing aesthetically, but as you can see this original idea of Tina trapped inside the computer and Robert carressing her held up though most versions of the artwork.
All one sheets will have a back side that usually has photos as well as a synopsis and other information about the movie. A one sheet is an 8 1/2" by 11" marketing tool that is used to sell the movie. It is small enough that it can be handed out to prospective buyers.
